A tidy desk gives us a tidy mind. So it’s so important to keep a tidy environment.

Paperwork can be such a big issue for a small business. If you can, sign up to have things sent to your inbox instead of your postbox.

Any paperwork you do get, deal with it straight away. Do you need it? If not shred it and recycle. Don’t let it build up. A pile of paperwork not dealt with can seem overwhelming, and it may just seem easier to ignore.

Have files for important documents and recycle the rest.

Do you need to print everything out? You could save space and money on paper and print cartridges. You will need to keep hard copies of important documents (legal, tax etc.)

If you choose to store documents on your computer, make sure they are either stored online (e.g dropbox) or if they are stored on your hard drive, make sure your computer is backed up regularly.

Business cards – done

When you see your business cards (that look great by the way!) and the finished website live (this also looks great btw!), the business becomes more of a reality.

So, it’s up to me to run with it now, I can’t hide behind anything or anyone. I attended my first networking event this morning at the Hallmark Hotel in Derby. I didn’t think public speaking was my thing, but I’m sure that will develop over time. Thanks to Yvonne Gorman of Essential Print Services, who invited me to this event.

I want to take things steady and be happy with every aspect of my business. To feel in control of it is a great feeling. I’m learning new aspects of business and I’m seeing social media in a whole new light. I’m now in the process of integrating my social networking and my website, something I thought I would never be able to do. I’m learning something new everyday!
